Started by the Works Projects Administration to employ local musicians during the Great Depression, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra truly is an organization of and for the people. Since these humble beginnings, the orchestra has evolved to become world renowned for its artistic and musical excellence, enriching lives in Western New York and beyond.

Since 1940, the orchestra has made its home in Kleinhans Music Hall, a National Historic Site with a reputation as one of finest concert halls in the country. Here, the BPO presents more than 120 classics, pops and youth concerts each year – and touches the lives of more than 40,000 children.
