Maplewood YMCA

People of all ages, races and backgrounds coming together for spirit, mind and body - that’s what a YMCA is all about. But for the Maplewood branch in Rochester, this was becoming less possible as each day passed. The building was run down, the surrounding community was in transition, and its future was in jeopardy.

Then, in 2008, a community-wide effort began to turn the Maplewood YMCA around. And M&T was there, heading up both the volunteer and fundraising efforts. A transformation occurred in a short time, with the branch now serving as a state-of-the-art facility for the immediate neighborhood and beyond.

Now a year since the renovation, enrollment at the branch has tripled. The community is reengaged, and the facility is widely viewed as a beacon of hope. And M&T couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of it all.
